The beginning of Leg je vast

Tamara and Laura met in a hair salon. Not the most obvious place to form a photography duo, but that’s exactly where something special started. "Tamara came to work with Laura, and we clicked so well that we ended up running the salon together," they share. After work, they’d both grab their cameras and go out shooting, just for fun. What started as a shared hobby slowly grew into a dream with potential.

"We both absolutely loved photography, but giving up your safe haven isn't easy," they recall. In their search for more fulfillment, the idea for Leg je vast was born. They made a business plan ‘just for fun’, but soon realized they had something valuable on their hands, something they themselves had missed when they were just starting out as photographers.

Making photography accessible for everyone became their mission

"Before our time as hairdressers, we had to figure everything out ourselves, using memory tricks, trial and error, and a lot of practice," they explain. "Back then, we would have loved someone who could explain things in a simple, understandable way." Someone they could turn to with questions without feeling uncomfortable. And that’s how Leg je vast was created.

"We thought, if we’re going to do this, then we want to be that person for others! We want beginner photographers to come to us to learn photography in a low pressure, accessible way." No complicated theories, just practical tips and, above all, a warm and safe space to learn.

Things started to snowball, and eventually they made the decision: we’re going to do this!

A new photography and education company

Leg je vast has since grown into a place where Tamara and Laura not only capture stunning portraits, but also help aspiring photographers get started. "Anyone can learn photography. You just need someone to guide you."

"Leg je vast is really a mix of everything we needed ourselves when we were starting out as professional photographers, and what we now want to give others," they say enthusiastically. Not just beautiful photos, but shoots that feel like a celebration. A real experience to remember. That’s what it’s all about for them: joy, connection and capturing something real.

Tamara and Laura now offer a different of tools for photographers, from Lightroom brushes to e-books and their very own Leg je vast Academy. "We create tools and courses that make photography easier and more fun. Not just for better photos, but for the entire process." From group workshops to online courses, all without technical jargon.

A golden duo with a shared mission

Although they do almost everything together, Tamara and Laura each have their own strengths. "Our power lies in the unique combination. Where one of us stops, the other keeps going, and together, we make it whole. That’s what makes us a strong team (maybe even a golden duo)."

That collaboration proved to be essential on their entrepreneurial journey. "In the beginning, we secretly thought: if you create something good, the right people will find it! But that’s not how it works, haha." Visibility and marketing turned out to be a skill in itself. It only became fun and sustainable when they approached it with genuine enthusiasm.

Trusting your own story

The beginner photographers Tamara and Laura coach often struggle with the same issues. "It feels like you're competing with thousands of others," they say. "Especially when you look at social media, where everything already looks perfect."

That’s exactly why their advice is clear: "Don’t compare your chapter one to someone else’s chapter thirty. Follow your own path. Dare to practice, make mistakes, and discover your style. There may be many photographers, but there’s only one you."

A client experience to remember
