In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to add a watermark to your photos in Shootstack. You can upload your own custom watermark or use the default option provided.

Add your own watermark

To add your own watermark, go to the Branding tab and click on Watermarks. Click on Create watermark and upload your logo. You can adjust the size of the logo for both landscape and portrait images. You can also change the transparency if needed.

Note: if you don’t have your own watermark, simply skip this step. You can use our default watermark text instead.

Your watermark will be used as a logo overlay on your photos and serves as a layer of protection. This is not the same as the logo shown on the gallery cover or footer. A watermark is only applied when you're working with a Watermark Photo set.

Watermark adjustments

By default, the watermark is placed in the center of each photo. It’s not possible to change the position of the watermark on your photos. However, you can adjust the opacity and size to make it more subtle or more visible.

Select or create a new collection

Now it's time to create a new collection. If you’ve already created one, just select your collection.

Create a watermark photo set

To add a watermark to your photos, you need to create a new photo set. Click on Add Photo set. Here you can enter a name, description, and select your watermark. If you don’t have your own watermark, you can use the default "Preview Photo" text.

Note: you can’t change a regular photo set into a watermark photoset. You’ll always need to create a new photo set first.

When you upload photos into this watermarked photo set, the watermark will automatically appear on all images.

Important step: Add the watermarked photo set to your gallery

The final step is to add the watermarked photo set to your gallery. Go to the Galleries tab under the cover photo and click on Photo sets. Select the watermarked Photo set you want to show in the gallery.

Now you can set up the rest of your gallery and send the preview to your client.

Note: watermarked photos cannot be downloaded, even if downloads are accidentally enabled in your gallery settings.

If you want to remove the watermark from your photos, you can either re-upload them into a regular photo set or copy the favorite images directly to a new photo set. Learn more about this in the favorite proofing workflow.
